Sandi Carpenter is a product of her art. It shapes her as she in turn has nurtured it. The result: a body of work of stunning virtuosity and remarkable range.

The artist’s repertoire reflects who she is and where she has been. Inspired as it is inspirational; Sandi’s art moves the viewer. Nowhere is the argument for divine inspiration more ably supported than in what flows from the moment the brush is placed in her gifted hands.

Hers is art that carries the viewer to far away exotic locales with the suggestion of distant, albeit universal dreams. Its effect however is delightfully palpable and immediate. Its emotional diversity runs the gamut; connoting a sense of longing and belonging with equal facility and conviction. These exquisite works truly capture the depth as well as the breadth and variety of the human condition. It is impossible for the viewer to know where experience ends and imagination begins

It might be said that her tropically-themed work reflects an escapist milieu much in the way that Paul Gauguin's seemingly created the oeuvre more than a century ago.  Her range of themes and subject however encompasses other world views and provocative locales including the Caribbean, gritty urban scenes; and equally adroitly executed figurative studies.   

There is a pronounced tenderness evidenced in much of her work that embraces our inter-connectedness as adroitly as other pieces capture an unbearable isolation.  

Sandi's likewise manages in flights of good-natured whimsy to capture the lighter side of life and this approach serves her equally well; providing an interesting contrast, equally evocative of a life lived with a sense of passion and conviction. 

Sandi Carpenter's art has been winning her awards and the prominent display of her work, virtually all of her life.  There can be little doubt that her vision and the body of her work have had and will continue to have a profound influence on the people and world around her.  She absorbs her environment and lends a vision to its reflection that most assuredly comes from heart as much as head...in generous measure and equal parts.

"Due to my endless curiosity and wide range of interests, my work has evolved over the years.  Just as a musician would change instruments to perfect the mood and rhythm created, I enjoy moving from one medium to another.  I am always hopeful that the magic I feel in creating these images will be felt by the viewer with similar intensity.  That's when art really lives."
